Jerry Orr told the Observer that he had been fired as long time Aviation Director of Charlotte Douglas International Airport. However, various city officials including City Manager Ron Carlee state Orr resigned his position in a letter by telling them he was in a new (much-anticipated) position as Executive Director of the new Charlotte Airport Authority. That position is on hold by court order, so Orr is currently out of a job. Charlotte's City Council says litigation is pending to fight takeover of the airport by a regional authority established by state legislation.
Temporary restraining orders, negotiations, much more to come.
